A fraction collector is a necessity for any preparative liquid chromatography work. Whether you're
purifying small samples with preparative HPLC or larger samples on open columns, you need to collect the
different materials you so carefully separated chromatographically in separate containers.
The CF-2 Fraction Collector is designed with a stationary drop head where the tubes move under the drop former insuring every drop is collected.
The CF-2 Fraction Collector is a very durable general-purpose fraction collector that meets both your
preparative LC and open column LC needs. It is the long anticipated successor to the CF-1 Fraction
Collector and features the same rugged drive and rugged matallic casework.
The CF-2 Fraction Collector can collect up to 174 fractions in standard 13 mm test tubes or
up to 116 fractions in smaller 10 mm diameter tubes. For those who do assaying
after collection, the CF-2 can collect directly in 17 or 28 mm diameter scintillation vials.
The CF-2 is sold complete and ready-to-use. It includes tube holders for 12 or 13 mm diameter
tubes, a drop counter, and tubing fittings. All you need to add are the test tubes.
The CF-2 includes a powerful peak detector that lets you separate the low-level "in-between" material from the peaks.
Simply connect the chart recorder output from your detector to the
input of the CF-2 and you can put different amounts in the peak and non-peak tubes as well as
keep your peaks more concentrated by separating them from the non-peak material. Add a 3-way
diverter valve and you can skip collecting the in-between material.
While most chromatography needs can be met with the standard CF-2, options are available that can expand its versatility:
Collect up to 29 fractions from each of 4 separate columns simultaneously with the 4-column adapter.
Short on bench space? use the mast package to move other instruments and accessories up, out of the way.
Worried about dust or other contamination when doing long collections? Then use the dust cover to reduce the chances of this happening.

The IS-95 Interval Sampler is similar to a fraction collector. But, instead of collecting
all of the material coming from the column, it is used to periodically sample a
liquid flow or container.
The Model 280 UV detector is ideal for use with the CF-2. This
inexpensive filter-based detector features a similar rugged design and it
suitable for use in the cold room.
